Course Description
Welcome to the Canton High School Pre-AP English 1 page! Here at CHS, our expectations are high! In this class, students are exposed to both fiction and non-fiction forms of literature including essays, letters, diaries, journals, short-stories, poetry, textbooks , maps, speeches, newspapers, novels, and electronic media. In addition, they are learning the importance of strong writing skills, and putting those skills to use on a daily basis. This course is designed to prepare our students for the pathway to college. Therefore, the rigor and expectations in Pre-AP English and all of our AP classes are indicative of those of the college-level classroom. We are working diligently to mold our students into educated citizens, as English is a part of our daily lives no matter which path we choose!
