The Varsity Girls team finished third at the Regional Cross Country Meet in Grand Prairie on October 29, 2016, and has advanced to the State Cross Country Meet in Round Rock, Texas on November 12, 2016. This trip to Round Rock will be the first for the Lady Running Eagles since 2000.

Karen James is the regional runner-up after her impressive second-place finish with a time of 11:39. Juliana Bratcher was right on her heels finishing fifth overall in 11:56. Taylor Marshall 42nd in 12:47, Darby Pruitt 43rd in 12:47, Claire Boyd 13:15, Kristin Neystel 13:56, and Morgan Palmer 14:21. There were 24 schools and 180 runners in the race.

Cordale Harrison will also be competing in the State Cross Country Meet after finishing 22nd overall with a time of 17:29. Matthew Hook took 27th with a time of 17:37, Jaeden Miller 59th in 18:19, Juan Ruiz 18:44, Jonathan Bourquin 18:58, Bryce Terry 19:48, and Garrett Stapleton 20:36.

The state meet will be held at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock with the girls running at 8:30 a.m. followed by the boys.
