About Mrs. Burns

I graduated from Texas State University with a B.S. degree in Microbiology and a minor in chemistry. Right after college, I worked as a quality control bacteriologist for an allergy injection pharmaceutical company near Austin, where I quickly realized I did not enjoy solitary laboratory work. After I moved back to the East Texas area, I discovered teaching as a long term substitute in Van. I loved teaching and the challenge of making a difficult subject easier to learn. I have been teaching for 23 years, and I am just as excited to start my 24th year as I was my first year! I have taught many different science courses over the years, including 22 years of experience teaching chemistry which is by far my favorite. I enjoy learning new things in my field and recently graduated with my Masters in Chemistry from Texas A&M Commerce.

I am married with three children, all of which graduated from Canton High School. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family including our dog, Milo, and my horse, Emma.
